We love the Montbell Tachyon Hooded Jacket for its ultralight weight and the fact that it’s the only ultralight windbreaker with a set of hip belt-compatible hand pockets and underarm vents. Constructed with 7D ballistic airlight nylon ripstop, it’s durable for its weight but a bit on the plastic-y spectrum. This is a great shell for hiking and backpacking because it works so well with a hip belt.
